Camp Denali and North Face Lodge are a family-owned and operated business, specialized in active learning adventures in Denali since 1952. Hike with an experienced naturalist guide to remote alpine valleys and tundra-covered ridges where you can observe wildlife. If you want to go on your independent adventure, maps, booklets, canoes and bikes are also available for your use.
Camp Denali is situated on 67 acres of rising terrain, centered on a pond that reflects up to eleven major peaks of the Alaska Range. A hand-hewn log lodge, built by the founders in 1954, still offers up hospitality at the heart of Camp Denali, while guest cabins are set along an ascending ridgeline to take best advantage of the surrounding views. A new dining hall, a natural history resource collection, a modern shower and bathroom facility, and other public spaces radiate out from the lodge. The newer buildings and facilities compliment Camp Denali’s rich history and reputation as one of the first wilderness lodges in Alaska.
At Camp Denali, lodge accommodations are in well-spaced cabins, appointed with traditional cabin amenities including hand-sewn quilts made by our staff, wood stoves and propane lights. Drinking water comes from a spigot by your door, and may be heated in your cabin for a quiet cup of coffee, tea or for washing up. Camp Denali's meticulously maintained outhouses offer private, convenient facilities, and each guest cabin enjoys clear views of Denali when it's out. The dining hall, lodge, natural history resource collection and a modern bath and shower facility are a three to seven-minute walk from your cabin. Camp Denali sits right at the 2,400 foot tree line, providing access to native tundra and taiga habitats right from your door.
North Face Lodge
North Face Lodge is a traditional north-country inn in view of eight major peaks of the Alaska Range, and located amid a sweeping expanse of native tundra vegetation. Modern guest rooms are joined by a common veranda, leading to the lodge's sitting room, fireplace, dining area and library. North Face Lodge is 1.5 miles from Wonder Lake via foot path or bicycle, making it the nearest accommodation to this park attraction. Nearby to the lodge, a rustic log cabin tells of the land's history-park superintendent Grant Pearson chose this site for his homestead in 1957. Thirty years later, the Cole family recognized the land's coveted status and acquired the property to protect it from unchecked development.
Today, the renovated north-country inn maintains a purposefully intimate size. The fifteen small, well-appointed rooms each have their en suite bathroom and electricity. On cool, crisp mornings, enjoy a game of chess by a crackling fire in the lodge's living room, or choose a book from our library of natural history and Alaskan literature. A spacious outdoor patio, with spectacular views of the Alaska Range, beckons one outdoors.
