Chief Financial Officer

Work location: Anchorage

GoNorth Travel, LLC is a family owned Tourism company with a large RV and SUV rental fleet with branches in Anchorage, Fairbanks, Seattle and Whitehorse. We are looking for an experienced Chief Financial Officer to take over the responsibilities of our current CFO. The CFO has a day-to-day, ongoing impact on company operations, helping us to analyze, strategize, and grow our financial position. As a member of senior management, the CFO will be comfortable in a leadership role that requires clear and effective communication skills.

Objectives of this role

  • Take responsibility (either directly or via staff) for all cash management, investments, insurance, budgeting, and financial reporting, and help drive the company’s financial strategy and hiring needs
  • Ensure cash flow is compatible with operations by overseeing day-to-day accounting, recording, reporting, and internal-control activities of the organization
  • Develop and implement best practices and tools to ensure a well-controlled yet flexible organization that has strong fiscal management, project coordination, cross-team communications, and workflows

Responsibilities

  • Process Payroll and file all related information returns for employees in 2 US states and the Yukon Territory in Canada, complying with all applicable local / state laws, including Worker’s Comp reporting and auditing
  • Prepare and file rental tax returns for the operations in Alaska and Washington as well as GST tax returns for Canada
  • Manage all insurance related aspects of the business properties as well as our rental fleet
  • Research revenue opportunities and economic trends, analyze internal operations, and identify areas for cost reduction and process enhancement
  • Manage HR operations by coordinating with internal staff responsible for other aspects of HR
  • Monitor business performance with tracking tools, establish corrective measures as needed, and prepare detailed reports for the management team
  • Manage finance personnel and oversee financial IT systems, ensuring compliance with relevant regulatory entities

Required skills and qualifications

  • Five or more years of experience in related fields
  • Exceptional verbal, written, and visual communication skills
  • Strong computer skills (proficient in MS applications)
  • Profound bookkeeping skills (QuickBooks Desktop a must, dual currency, inter-company entries)
  • Understanding of advanced accounting, regulatory issues, and tax planning
  • Maintain confidentiality at all times
  • Organizational skills and ability to prioritize work
  • Valid Driver’s license, clean driving record

Preferred skills and qualifications

  • Master’s degree (or equivalent experience) in accounting, business accounting, or finance

RV Technician

Work location: Anchorage or Fairbanks
Job Type: full-time, 40hrs

GoNorth Travel, LLC, a family-owned medium size company with branches in Anchorage, Fairbanks, Seattle, and Whitehorse Canada is looking for an experienced RV Technician (at least Level 1) for our Anchorage, Alaska location. Seasonal and/or year-round employment. Brand-new facilities in Anchorage; modern workplace environment.

Job duties include:

Service and repair RV’s, truck campers and SUV’s

Minimum qualifications:

– High School Diploma

– Highly proficient in English (speaking, writing and reading)

– Computer skills

– Ability to work independently and with highest accuracy within required time frame

– Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment

– Clean and valid Driver’s license

– Good team player

What you need to bring: Must bring your own tools – however, we will provide a tool weight transportation allowance

Starting pay $25 to $45 per hour depending on level of experience; plus incentive

Senior Travel Planner

GoNorth Travel LLC is a receptive tour operator and agent for partners in German speaking Europe, Belgium, the Netherlands, Australia, and also the U.S..

Winter work hours: flexible, Mondays-Fridays
Summer work hours: 8AM-5PM active, standby until 8PM, Mondays-Fridays,
limited hours & standby Saturdays/Sundays
During training: 8AM to 4PM, Monday-Friday

Salary:

  • $25.00/hour during first months while being trained.
    Subsequently increases based on responsibilities taken over.
  • $30.00 – $35.00 once extensive knowledge achieved, and special responsibilities taken over.

Subsequently increases based on performance.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 years work in travel planning. Extensive knowledge about service providers (activities and accommodations) in Alaska and Yukon
  • Minimum of 2 seasons spent in Alaska
  • Experience in supervisory function
  • Ability to problem solve, while working independently
  • Ability to think from a tourist’s perspective
  • Good communication skills and work in team
  • Reading and writing in German not required, but helpful in that position

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Email network with the employees of our client partners, as well as service providers
  • Craft quotes for suggested travel itineraries
  • Enter bookings into our reservation system
  • Provide relevant documentation for the end consumer, including detailed trip description in German or English and the corresponding vouchers.
  • Assist clients on the roads when they encounter challenges
  • Attending meetings with service provider partners, work out new products for our clients, and market our products to existing and new clients.
  • Work in team with co-workers in Alaska and Zurich Switzerland
