Arrival in Fairbanks, the Golden Heart City. Visit the state of the art visitors bureau situated at the Chena River. Go for a leisurely stroll along the river or opt for a guided river cruise on the sternwheeler.
Leave Fairbanks on the Richardson Highway. You will get some close views of the famous Alaska pipeline that goes from Prudhoe Bay at the Arctic Ocean to Valdez at the end of the Richardson Highway. Enjoy the fantastic scenery on the way South, before you turn right and start your adventure on the Denali Highway. Driving this rough gravel road feels like a true expedition into wilderness, with amazing scenery, vast tundra, views of breathtaking snow-covered mountains.

On you go on this amazing rough road with million dollar views. From Cantwell you head north to Denali National Park.
Today your adventure in Denali National Park begins. Take the park’s transit bus to East Fork Bridge (4.5 hours), jump of the bus for a hike and start exploring. After your tour you may want to explore the entrance area on your own or add another activity – see our suggestions.
Enjoy the morning with more adventures in the park or surroundings.
A short, scenic drive on the Parks Highway takes you back to Fairbanks.
End of your tour. Return your SUV at the same time as picked up.
Maclaren Lodge is situated between the Parks and the Richardson Highway, 40 miles from Paxson near the base of the Maclaren Glacier. The Lodge offers comfortable, clean, rustic lodging for individuals or groups. 8 new Alpine Glow Cabins with private ¾ bath and two queen beds were built recently. A full service restaurant is onsite and the common area is equipped with satellite TV and wireless internet. The hosts also offer guided paddle, hiking and fishing trips which must be inquired in advance.
