The Kodiak Brown Bear Center is located in the heart of the 1.9-million-acre Kodiak National Wildlife Refuge, in the middle of one of the densest concentrations of brown bears in the world.

Kodiak Treks offers small group adventure, low impact bear viewing excursions and great experiences based out of their lodge, located in the heart of Kodiak National Wildlife Refuge.
The program is designed for nature enthusiasts, looking to experience wild Alaska with knowledgeable, local guide and feeling comfortable in bear country.
Recommended are 4 to 5 days stay to minimize impact on bears and to maximize your experience.
This is an off-the-beaten track adventure with a maximum of 5 guests at a time. The hosts are trained biologists and focus not only on bear viewing but also on creating an awareness for wildlife among their guests. The daily program will be designed according to the interests of the group.
Rustic accommodations (no running water) are what awaits you on Aleut Island in the lodge and in the tents located 50 air miles southwest of the city Kodiak in spectacular Uyak Bay. Private sleeping quarters and a sauna house for bathing and relaxation provide a bit of comfort and a lot of privacy on the wilderness island paradise. Overnight is in basic cabins without shower or any running water. You wash out at the back of the cabin with rain water, an outhouse serves as toilet. It’s a short walk from the cabin to the main house where meals are served. The operation runs with “clean energy”-solar power. No generators humming, just the sound of the many local bird varieties and the surf on the beach.
To enhance the experience usually at least one night of each trip is based out of an out-camp, as it allows foot access to bear viewing areas.

Raincoat, sleeping bag (can be supplied upon request), towel and two sets of extra clothes, day-pack or frame pack for longer treks (can be supplied upon request), hip-boots recommended for longer trip (non-insulated, ankle-fit).

Redoubt Bay Lodge, located at the entrance to Lake Clark Pass, is a rustic lodge that overlooks Big River Lakes, where a resident bear population inhabits the area – one of the densest bear populations in the state.
Fly to Brooks Lodge to see bears catching salmon at the falls.
Lodge stay in Katmai National Park. Spend your day fishing or fly over to Brooks Falls to watch brown bears fishing for salmon.
