Rental Information
Pick-up & Drop-Off
Online Check-In
The Online Check-In platform allows customers to log in with their password and get access to a variety of features such as detailed information regarding their booking, their vehicle or pick up station. The guest also can provide information ahead of time. This will help to speed up the check-in process and reduce waiting time. Completing the online check-in also qualifies guests whose rental is 14+ days to receive a USD 25.00 credit at return.
Please note that it may take up to 48 hours after our confirmation for the reservation to be accessible online. Contact information can be uploaded and rental items can be requested up until 72 hours prior to vehicle pick-up.
Please note, that a rental day equals 24 hours and therefore, the pickup time will dictate the return time. Should you prefer a later time for your return, we’d recommend requesting a later pickup time.
To avoid unnecessary wait times for the guests we are scheduling appointments. Your completion of the online guest check-in is necessary to allow for this step. Guests who have not completed the Online Check-In will automatically receive the last available appointment time for the pick-up date.
Transfer to/from Rental station
GoNorth does not offer a shuttle service, with the exception of Whitehorse, where we try to pick up our guests with our shuttle van from hotel or airport.
We offer a USD 25.00 credit upon return of the vehicle for guests whose rental is 14+days and who have successfully completed their online check-in prior to pickup. Guests may use this credit as they wish. No credit is possible if guests have not completed the online check-in.
Pick-up & Drop-off Hours
May 1st – September 30st: daily from 10am to 3pm (10-15h), including Sundays and public holidays
October 1st – April 30st: Monday through Friday, from 10am to 3pm (10-15h), Weekends by appointment only
Return time is the same as pick up time, no later than 3pm (15h). GoNorth guarantees pick up by 3pm (15h), however we strive to have vehicles ready for pick up before 3pm (15h).
Our stations are open at least two hours after aircraft arrival (no later than 7pm) for clients arriving on nonstop flights from outside North America. Please note that clients must still return the vehicle by 3pm (15h) at the latest on the return date. We kindly ask you to send us flight number and arrival time for each booking. This helps with our planning and reduces waiting time on the spot.
Vehicle Pick-up
It can take up to 2 hours for the required vehicle orientation, to complete payment and sign all the paperwork required. Check-in and check-out take place between 10AM and 3PM. The vehicle has to be returned at the same time as it was picked up. One rental day equals 24 hours. GoNorth guarantees pick up by 3PM (15h); however, we strive to have vehicles ready for pick up before 3PM (15h). Customers are required to examine the vehicle carefully upon pick up. All damages to the vehicle have to be stated on the damage report. Customers will be charged for all additional damage to the vehicle upon return of the vehicle. After the vehicle orientation the contract will be signed and all additional charges (including security deposit) will be charged to the customer’s credit card (cash option available). A copy of the contract, as well as the credit card slip/receipt will be handed or emailed to the customer. The vehicle is equipped with an operators manual (in English and German) for quick reference.
If guests wish to pick up the rental unit the same day arriving after an 8h+ flight, they are still allowed to pick up their rental unit but may not leave the city until the following day.
Preparation Fee
The preparation fee includes in-depth cleaning and sanitation above industry standards, and a 98 point mechanical and maintenance checklist are provided prior to each rental. All truck campers and motorhomes come equipped with the equipment listed here.
Upgrade & Downgrade
GoNorth holds one back-up vehicle per 25 rental vehicles to make sure that all customers get the vehicle they originally booked, even in the event of breakdowns. Only in exceptional cases the vehicle confirmed may not be available. GoNorth will offer an upgrade before a downgrade to the customer affected by vehicle shortage.
Upgrade
In case the originally booked category is not available, GoNorth will offer and upgrade to a higher category with no extra charge. Additional charges like mileage will be based on the originally booked category rather than the upgrade. GoNorth does not take responsibility for any consequential cost like higher fuel consumption, surcharges for ferry bookings (longer vehicle), cancelled ferry booking due to the longer vehicle, higher camping or accommodation cost due to the size of the vehicle. No further compensation is applicable.
Downgrade
In the event that neither the originally booked category nor an upgrade is available, GoNorth will offer a downgrade to the customer. The difference between the originally booked category and the downgrade will be refunded directly to the customer (based on GoNorth public fares). Consequential costs like extra mileage will be based on the downgrade rather than the originally booked category. GoNorth does not take responsibility for direct or indirect consequences of a downgrade. Any further compensation as a result of a downgrade is not applicable.
Vehicle Return
Vehicles must be returned to the GoNorth office during official hours, according to the appointment arranged when the rental contract was signed. There is a penalty for delayed drop off. A regular drop off procedure takes about 15-20 minutes but can take up to 1 hour.
When the customer arrives at the rental station to return the vehicle, it is recommended to pack and unload the bags first, then the GoNorth staff will check the vehicle. Any additional mileage, damage charges, fuel, propane, fees if black and grey tanks are not empty, and cleaning fees will be assessed at this time. Fresh water does not need to be full at the time of the return. GoNorth counter staff will assist in organizing a taxi to the airport or hotel.
Potential additional charges at return
For potential additional charges at return see detailed pricing depending on vehicle category here.
Cleaning
We do ask our customers to return the vehicle clean, so we can properly inspect the condition of the vehicle. Please find details here.
