We do ask our customers to return the vehicle clean, so we can properly inspect the condition of the vehicle. We are the only rental company allowing our 4×4 SUVs on all public roads in the US (including Alaska) and Canada – including dirt and gravel roads. If we didn’t have this policy in place, most of our vehicles would return covered in dust and/or mud and we cannot fully inspect those vehicles when returned. However, there are two options you can choose from when it comes to the cleaning procedure.

Time Saver:
We may charge a cleaning fee between $42.50 and $235 for the inside and between $25 and $150 for the outside cleaning. The exact charge is determined by the condition the vehicle is returned in and how much time will be required to clean the rental unit.

Money Saver:
If you wish to avoid the cleaning fee, the vehicle should be returned with a clean interior and exterior. That means that the inside must be cleaned (shower, toilet, sinks, refrigerator, stove, oven, microwave, dishes, pots, pans, and coffeemaker must be wiped clean) and you must sweep out the motorhome/truck camper. We will always take care of the cleaning of linens, duvet covers and towels, as this is part of our preparation fee.

In most cases, you will probably spend a similar amount to our cleaning charge if you choose to clean the unit outside yourself.

If you would like to see some examples where a cleaning fee would get applied, you can find some pictures here.

Between May 1st and September 30st, our Truck Campers (all 4×4), our 4×4 SUVs and our Passenger Vans, are allowed on all public roads in North America (USA & Canada), regardless if paved or not.

Only Motorhomes have restrictions and are being charged a fee for certain unpaved roads, click here for details. GoNorth reserves the right to issue temporary road restrictions in case of unusually poor road conditions, natural or man-made hazards. We issue these restrictions based on information provided by the Alaska Department of Transportation and the Alaska State Troopers. You must always abide by restrictions issued by these agencies or their Canadian counterparts.

Standard border entry formalities, rules and procedures apply as far as the law is concerned, but GoNorth does not restrict travel across the border.
Please keep up to date on the rules and guidelines regarding border crossing into Canada and the United States.
