The guided Arctic Ocean Adventure tour travels from Fairbanks to Alaska’s Arctic Coast by air and land. Visit the Prudhoe Bay oil fields, see the Arctic Ocean, travel along the famous Dalton Highway, and cross the Arctic Circle. You will also visit rural communities like Coldfoot, Wiseman and Joy on the way. The tour is available as a Fly/Drive (Southbound) and a Drive/Fly (Northbound).

Fly/Drive (Southbound Tour)

Day 1 Fairbanks to Prudhoe Bay

Departure is approximately 7AM with a flight north from Fairbanks to Prudhoe Bay. Visit the Prudhoe Bay oil fields and begin the journey by dipping your toe in the frigid waters of the Arctic Ocean. Overnight at Deadhorse, site of North America’s largest oil discovery.

Day 2 Prudhoe Bay to Coldfoot

Travel by van along the rugged Dalton Highway made famous during construction of the Trans Alaska Pipeline. Experience the amazing arctic tundra of the Arctic Coastal Plain and feel the veins of ice just beneath the surface. Continue across the Arctic Coastal Plain before climbing through the majestic Brooks Mountain Range and over the Continental Divide at Atigun Pass. Overnight at rustic Coldfoot nestled in the Brooks Range.

Day 3 Coldfoot to Fairbanks

Visit the wilderness community of Wiseman. Cross over the Arctic Circle and receive an official Arctic Circle Adventure Certificate. Marvel at the majestic beauty of the northland’s most famous waterway, the Yukon River, and learn of the history. Visit the Arctic Circle Trading Post situated in the rural community of Joy. Complete your adventure with a southbound ground tour back to Fairbanks. Arrival between 7PM and 8PM.

Drive/Fly (Northbound Tour)

Day 1 Fairbanks to Coldfoot

Start approximately 8:30AM with a ground tour north in a tour van. Visit the Arctic Circle Trading Post situated in the rural community of Joy. Begin travel the rugged Dalton Highway made famous during construction of the Trans Alaska Pipeline. Marvel at the majestic beauty of the northland’s most famous waterway, the Yukon River, and learn of its storied past. Cross the Arctic Circle and receive an Official Arctic Circle Adventure Certificate. Overnight at rustic Coldfoot nestled in the Brooks Mountain Range.

Day 2 Coldfoot to Prudhoe Bay

Visit the historic community of Wiseman. Pass through the majestic Brooks Mountain Range and over the Continental Divide at Atigun Pass. Explore the amazing arctic tundra of the Arctic Coastal Plain and feel the veins of ice just beneath the surface. Overnight at Deadhorse, site of North America’s largest oil discovery.

Day 3 Prudhoe Bay to Fairbanks

Visit the Prudhoe Bay oil fields and complete the journey by dipping your toe in the frigid waters of the Arctic Ocean. Return to Fairbanks by air, arrival between 6pm and 7pm.
