Start your day with a scenic drive along Turnagain Arm, a National Scenic Byway. Watch for Dall sheeps on the mountains to your left and for Beluga whales in the ocean to your right. Then travel along the turquoise blue Kenai River, a world-class salmon fishing area of Kenai.
Continue your journey to Homer and enjoy amazing views and photo opportunities along the Cook Inlet coastline. Homer is positioned at the end of the Sterling Highway, stretching out into Kachemak Bay.
Explore the town and Homer Spit at your own leisure. Choose one of our recommended tour add-ons or just enjoy a stroll through the galleries and along the spit.
Spend the day touring Alaska’s Kenai Peninsula. Take your time while driving along the Kenai River once again, before you turn south on the Seward Highway towards Seward – the gateway to Kenai Fjords National Park. Take one of the many hiking trails along the route or plan on visiting Exit Glacier or the Alaska SeaLife Center once you reached Seward.
**** If you would like to spend more time fishing or just relaxing on the side of the Kenai River we recommend adding days to your itinerary and staying at the Kenai Riverside Lodge ****
Today you will explore Kenai Fjords National Park on a 6-hour boat cruise into the park, a 1760 square mile coastal wilderness. The park is home to abundant wildlife, such as Humpback and Orca whales, puffins, seals and Stellar sea lions. Cruise up close to a tidewater glacier for a chance to watch the ice calve off into the ocean. Lunch is included in your tour.
A leisurely drive brings you back to Anchorage. You may want to add a stop at the Portage Glacier or visit
Girdwood and Mount Alyeska, where you can go for a scenic hike or take the Alyeska tram up to the mountain.
