White Pass & Yukon Railroad is the “Scenic Railway of the World”.
The White Pass and Yukon Route embodies icons like the Klondike Gold Rush and the International Historic Civil Engineering Landmark designation. The White Pass and Yukon Route railway was considered an impossible task, but it was literally blasted through coastal mountains in only 26 months. The 110-mile Railroad was completed with the driving of the golden spike on July 29, 1900, in Carcross, Yukon connecting the deep-water port of Skagway, Alaska to Whitehorse, Yukon.
The White Pass and Yukon Route is an authentic and unique experience, providing quality and value through spectacular scenery, vintage rail equipment, historic sites, and informative narration.
This 2.5 to 2.75 hour, 40 mile round trip climbs from tidewater at Skagway to the Summit of White Pass, a 2,888 foot elevation. The fully narrated tour passes through two tunnels, over sky-high trestles & cascading waterfalls.
Experience this unique railroad that symbolizes accomplishment in adventure and pioneering – of triumph over challenge.
Relax in vintage passenger coaches as you retrace the original route to the White Pass Summit, passing Bridal Veil Falls, Inspiration Point and Dead Horse Gulch. Enjoy a breathtaking panorama of mountains, glaciers, gorges, waterfalls, tunnels, trestles and historic sites.
See the original Klondike Trail of ‘98 worn into the rocks, a permanent tribute to the thousands of souls who passed this way in search of fortune.
